Memescreener Privacy Policy

Welcome to Memescreener! This Privacy Policy explains how Memescreener collects, uses, and protects your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience with our app.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information:

• Email address. Collected only if you create an account, and used for authentication and account management.
• Boost name or alias. If you choose to enter one when purchasing a Boost. It is optional, limited to 20 characters, and is displayed publicly within the app for as long as that Boost is active. Please do not enter anything you would not want shown to other users.
• Boost purchase records. When you purchase a Boost we record the store transaction identifier, the store used (Apple App Store or Google Play), the amount and currency charged, the time of purchase, whether the purchase was later refunded, and the account or device identifier associated with it.
• Payment details. We never receive or store your card, bank, or other payment credentials. All payments are processed by Apple or Google.

Until a Boost purchase has been confirmed by our servers, your device temporarily stores the store receipt for that purchase so it can be retried if confirmation fails. That receipt is removed from your device once the Boost has been applied.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above only to:

• Authenticate you and let you access and manage your account.
• Deliver and display Boosts you have purchased, including showing your chosen name or alias alongside the boosted token.
• Verify purchases with Apple or Google, so that a Boost is only granted for a payment that genuinely took place, and so the same payment cannot be claimed twice.
• Handle refunds, including withdrawing a Boost when its purchase is refunded or reversed.
• Screen submitted names and aliases for prohibited content.
• Keep records required for accounting, tax, and the resolution of payment disputes.

We do not use your email address for marketing purposes, and we do not sell your personal information.

3. Information Shown Publicly

If you provide a name or alias when purchasing a Boost, it is visible to everyone using the app for the duration of that Boost. It is shown next to the boosted token, together with a disclosure that the placement was paid for and the amount paid. Where several people have boosted the same token, their names are shown together.

Providing a name is entirely optional. If you leave it blank, the Boost is displayed without any name attached. We screen submitted names automatically and may reject or remove any name at our discretion; a rejected name does not affect the Boost itself.

Aliases stop being displayed once the Boost they belong to expires.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• Apple and Google. All purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play as merchant of record. They handle your payment and provide us with confirmation that a purchase occurred, including the transaction identifier and the amount charged. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.
• Service providers. Our backend runs on Google Firebase and Google Cloud, which store the data described above on our behalf and process it only under our instructions.
• Legal requirements. Where we are required to disclose information by law, or to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.

5. Data Retention

Your email address is retained until you delete your account. Boost purchase records are retained for accounting, tax, and dispute-resolution purposes; we keep at most the fifty most recent purchase records for any given token. A name or alias stops being displayed when its Boost expires.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. While no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request access to the personal data we hold about you, including your email address, any names or aliases you have submitted, and your Boost purchase records.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account, your email address, and any name or alias you have submitted.

Please note that we may need to retain records of completed purchases even after account deletion, where required to meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations, or to resolve a payment dispute. Such records are retained only for those purposes.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
